Eye Parts

The eye is an essential part of a human anatomy. The eye is what enables us to see the beauty of the world. The eye has also been referred to as the window of the soul. This is because the eyes are very expressive and open. It has been proved that it is quite impossible to lie with your eyes open. The eye has a lot of resemblance to a camera. The similarities are both in how it (eyes) works and also the various parts. The eye parts are numerous in number with diverse functions and tasks that they perform for the body.

The eye parts work in co-ordinated manner that is just too similar to that of a camera. The eye sends pictures to the brain that it has received from the environment. The brain works on the message and images that it has received from the eyes. This is what the brain does from the first moment we awake in the morning to the moment when we go to bed. The eyes works like a camera because just as a camera responds to light rays so also does our eyes respond to light that penetrates the object and then gets recorded on our retina.

The message that is sent by eyes to the retina is usually lopsided or upside down and is only corrected when it gets to the brain. This is also how the camera works as when light rays penetrates the object it is lodged in the film and is only righted when it is transferred into a computer and worked on.

When a message gets to the brain it is put automatically in the correct position and then the correct message is passed to the eyes which are what we now conceive as correct message or image.

This article would be concerned with the various eye parts that make up our vision of sight. The eye is made up of different parts that make it possible for us to see. Below are the different parts that make up our eyes.

1. The first is the hard skin that covers the outer layer of our eyeball. This part is called the Sclera.

2. There is also a part called the Eyeball i.e. the white part of the eyes.

3. After the eyeball is the Cornea. This is a clear part of the eyes because there are no blood vessels here. It is also a skin covering that has a see-through quality.

4. The Iris comes next and its work is to control the level of light that comes into the eyes, it must not be too much or too little. This part is also responsible for sending images to the retina.

5. Another eye part is the Retina. This is the part that is involved with the receiving of images though in an upside manner. The retina is made up two parts which are Cones and Rods. The cones are the ones responsible for helping one to see colored pictures. The rods are responsible for the black and white pictures. The cones and rods are also responsible for transforming messages to electrical form to be sent to the brain through the lens.

6. The lens comes next and it is focus the light properly on the retina to ensure a good output. It can also make sure that the image received from the brain is correctly placed on the retina.

7. In controlling light rays what a Pupil does is to let light into our eyes. In bright lights it becomes smaller while in dark places it gets bigger.

8. The Optic Nerve is an eye part that has the duty of receiving messages from the lens and transmitting it to the brain.

9. The Eyelids help protect the eyes from heavy objects. They also close to enable you sleep better.

10. The Eyelashes. These are located on the eyelids and are also very sensitive because when your eyes closes to sleep they trap the dust and dirt’s that tries to get into the eyes from the environment.

11. Eye brows are another piece of eye parts that helps to complete the overall outlook of the eyes. They help to keep dirt and sweat from the eyes.

12. Tear Glands are located in the upper eyelid and are small in nature. Their job is to produce tear glands that help clean the eyes from inevitable dust. They also protect the eyes from damage as we blink.

13. The Conjunctiva is an eye part that is located in the eyelid. This part is a lining that is in the inner eyelid and in front of the outer section of the eye. It is a blood vessel that grows bigger when the eye is sore. It is what makes the eyes look red when it is sore.

The various eye parts work together in a harmonious manner to create vision and sight.
